Join us exploring Beyond the Margins
Join us looking Beyond the Margins to the sexual violence survivors whose experiences are too often pushed to the edges of data, policy and public conversation.
Our upcoming event – Beyond the Margins: Sexual Violence, Disability and Other Compounding Barriers – will take place in the National Library of Ireland on 22nd June 2026 at 10am.
When survivors hold protected characteristics – including disability, legal status, sexual orientation, gender, religion or ethnicity – they often face compounding barriers that make disclosure, reporting and accessing support significantly more difficult. This event will shine a light on those experiences and ask what it will take to ensure no survivor is left at the margins.
We will present recommendations that address the systemic and structural barriers that continue to disadvantage and silence these communities, with a focus on ensuring services are culturally responsive, inclusive, and adequately resourced – so that every survivor, regardless of their background or circumstances, can access the support they need and deserve.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan TD will launch our latest statistics report at the event. Learning from Survivors of Rape and Sexual Violence – Rape Crisis Statistics 2025 draws from data collated from our seven member Rape Crisis Centres across Ireland.
We are also honoured to be joined by two distinguished speakers – Dr Rosaleen McDonagh and Dr Lucy Michael – whose expertise speaks directly to the themes at the heart of our report.
We will also be launching our Annual Impact Report 2025 and our new strategic plan, Advocating for Survivors, Preventing Harm: A Strategy for Change 2026–2030.
Our three latest publications together offer a compelling and timely picture of the impact of sexual violence, the work of our member centres, and our vision for the years ahead.
